A few shots of recent chalk board menu I created for Moe’s Original Bar B Que down in Lakewood… Approximately 9ft X 3ft. If you’re ever around Kipling and Morrison Rd stop in for a bite. Good stuff…!

Last weekend I was down at the 8th Annual Belmar Italian Festival doing a chalk art demonstration. This is the gigantic Chalk Art Pizza I created..thin crust of course!! Thanks to Belmar Festival Italiano for inviting me down and to Borriello Brothers Pizza for hooking me up with ‘special operations’ shirt at the end of the day.

Sunday, June 5, 10 am to 7 pm
This coming Friday I will be doing a Chalk Art Demonstration for the Longmont Artwalk. Below are some details. Come up and hang out…..
Time:
* 6:30-9 pm
Where:
In historic downtown Longmont with over 20 venues on Main Street between 3rd Avenue and 6th Avenue.
ArtWalk is:
A free evening of art exhibitions, music, live theatre, dance and children’s activities. The ArtWalk event transforms downtown Longmont businesses into galleries and promotes cultural arts for three fabulous evenings each year.
You can see more details at ARTLINKLONGMONT.org
It was a fun night at the Longmont Art Walk. Here is a picture of my chalk art creation from the classic “Maccheroni Pianigiani” by Achille Mauzan taken with a camera phone. It was approximately 20′ X 4′. If anyone else out there in the world got a better picture of the Chalk Art……please contact me – Mark Cline – 720-339-1734. I would sincerely appreciate it!! Thanks in advance…

Another photo surfaced…. I think this was taken the day after as it looks like it got a little rain and has been run over a few times. The street was closed off during the event but then reopened later that evening.

I got back late last night from Washington D.C. where I was doing a chalk art demonstration, in Union Station, for Diabetes awareness. It was an amazing experience….I’m so sore I can barely move!!! I can’t believe they got the time lapse video done so fast!!! I finished up mid afternoon, flew back to Denver and got home about midnight. When I woke up at about 7am…the video was already on youtube.
The Project: Complete a 20′X20′ Live Chalk art mural in Washington D.C.’s Union Station in about 10 hours. The 3D chalk mural was to depict and promote awareness for the 10 diabetes hot spots around the country and the cost in Billions by year 2025.
I started the basic sketch in the Hotel banquette Room” Georgetown Two” in the Marriott Hotel. This was a little tough as it was over carpet. It was decided that we would do the mural on this great (new to me) Decoral paper product. It is flame retardant and very useful for indoor projects. I thought it held the chalk very well, and with it being black it really added to the look of a real street painting.
A special thanks to Novo Nordisk and BioSector 2 for the opportunity. I also want to thank Richard Harrington, of RHED Pixel, who was part of the time lapse video team and especially for leaving the part out of the video where I stepped in my box of pastels.
The mural depicts the cost of diabetes to 10 “Diabetes Hot Spots” around the United States by 2025 if current trends continue. The map is sponsored by Novo Nordisk, which released the results of a study by the Institute for Alternative Futures that provides a forecast of the project cost of diabetes for each of the 50 states.

This week I was Down at the Denver Pavilions doing some ‘Ski’ themed 3d chalk art. It was cold and it even snowed a little bit while I was down there. Seems like I’m either doing chalk art when its 98 (la piazza 2010) or this week…. 30-40 degrees. Anyway…. Below are a few pics of some of my fellow citizens getting interactive with my chalk art. Perspective is so important!! Thanks to the Denver Pavilions for the opportunity to be a part of the event.
One of my Halloween-ish 3D chalk art demonstrations outside of Sunflower Market Place in Arvada Colorado at about 80th & Wadsworth. So many people stopped to talk to me about my chalk art it took a little longer than expected. Lots of pictures were taken of me and my crazy 3d chalk art pumpkins characters coming up out of the cellar. Below are a few shots from throughout the day. And in case you’re wondering…..not all pumpkins have arms.

I was a featured artist this year at the 1st Annual ‘Chalk Up to Education‘ at Arapahoe Community College. We had a lot of fun that weekend!! Above is my 3D Chalk Art piece from the pancake breakfast kick off party.

Its called the Denver Chalk Art Festival now…but its still La Piazza to me as I have been participating for 8 years now…I think. Anyway, here are a few pictures from last weekend. It was sooooooooo HOT…It felt like 150 degrees on the pavement. I’m going ask for a shaded section next year…… June 4 & 5 2011.

These are some pictures from the weekend down at the Belmar Italian Festival in Lakewood at Alameda and Wadsworth. It was a crazy weekend. The square I was assigned was right on one of the main corners. So many people stopped by to talk to me. I have done chalk art down at Belmar for the past few years but this was, by far, their best event yet. Here are some shots from the weekend of my 3D chalk art wine bottle at Belmar.
This was the beginning of my Jack and the Bean Stalk for the Grand opening of the Brighton Public Library. It rained that day and I never received a picture from the event photographer. If your reading this…..please send it to me. Thanks!!
